Are you shocked by the heartless announcement by the Provincial Government that we must pay 4.5% extra rent to our landlords next year? Are you barely able to pay rent and buy groceries now? Are you sick of government making decisions that favour the rich, wealthy, and property-owning? Are you already homeless or outraged by the number of homeless on the streets and afraid you, your family and friends will be homeless next?
Rally to Stop the 4.5% Rent Hike!
NOON – Thursday, Sept 13, 2018
Meet at Portal Park, across the street from the Landlord BC’s Office (1095 West Pender Street)
On Saturday, Sept 9, the Vancouver Tenants Union held a regular monthly General Meeting. The meeting was standing room only as tenants flooded to the meeting angry, afraid and in some cases, in tears, over the Provincial Government’s announcement to increase rents 4.5%.
Members called for action.
We are calling on our 1000 members, concerned groups and the public to join us as we stand up and tell Selina Robinson, the BC government and the landlords they are protecting that this 4.5% rent increase is unacceptable! We want a four year rent freeze and real rent control!
Hear from courageous tenants, who risk eviction by speaking out, talk about their struggles to find and keep adequately maintained housing as the housing crisis intensifies.
Momentum is growing. Make sure your voice is heard. And spread the word to friends, family and neighbours. There is strength in numbers
