WHERE WILL THE PEOPLE GO IN “DOWNTOWN” METROTOWN?

Burnaby City Council recently announce a plan to make Metrotown a “downtown core” and raise building heights throughout the area to over 12 stories. The new plan is like a winning lottery ticket for landowners, whose land values will skyrocket. For tenants, it guarantees mass demoviction.
This summer is Burnaby’s only planned time for a “consultation” on this devastating plan that they plan to pass in December. Come hear a presentation from Burnaby City planners about their “Downtown Metrotown” plan. Together we will question them about the effects of their plan on thousands of renters who are vulnerable to demoviction, displacement, and homelessness.
