Subject: Kathleen Llewellyn-Thomas
Comment: To Whom It May Concern;
Kathleen Llewellyn-Thomas chose to resign rather than being fired from Toronto Community Housing Corporation as COO.
Ms. Llewellyn-Thomas was never on Toronto City Council. However Kathleen spent much time at Toronto City Hall trying to undermine then CEO Gene Jones.
Kathleen Llewellyn-Thomas applied for the position of CEO but lost out to Mr. Jones. Tragically and I use the word wisely, Bud Purves, TCHC Board Chair, told Gene Jones to hire Kathleen Llewellyn-Thomas as COO. It wasn’t until afterwards Mr. Jones heard Kathleen had applied for and lost out to him.I did challenge Bud Purves on his folly telling him, “you don’t hire the fox to guard the hen house”.
During the less than 5 months Kathleen was at TCHC, she hired her friend, Lenna Bradburn, to the position of VP Resident Services and strongly recommended Pamela Spencer, Lenna’s sorority sister, for the position of TCHC Legal Counsel. Coincidentally, Lenna and Pamela started TCHC employment on January 6, 2014, the very day Kathleen “resigned”. Sadly Pamela and Lenna worked with the political drama queen, Fiona Crean, Ombudsman, trying to force Mr. Jones out. Gene Jones wisely “pulled the carpet” from under the Board and resigned. Gene Jones is now CEO of Chicago Housing Authority and doing a yeoman’s job while TCHC has become much worse than it was before Mr. Jones was hired with the mandate to clean up the corruption and incompetence within TCHC. Toronto’s loss is Chicago’s gain.
I am not surprised to hear of Kathleen’s lack of empathy in Vancouver. I recently challenged her on Linkedin posting she was at TCHC for 1 year while the truth is it was only 5 months.
Sincerely,
Bonnie
