Stephen Scott sells Megaphone at Davie and Thurlow and is Megaphone’s 2014 ‘Vendor of the Year’.
With a wide, warm smile and a contagious positive energy, Stephen is a joy to be around. But the gregarious Megaphone vendor has had more than a few setbacks in his life.
The year 2000 saw the beginning of a string of difficult events for Stephen – a car crash, coma, severe leg trauma, brain cancer, and an HIV diagnosis. In the fallout from these events, Stephen experienced homelessness and the severe impacts of poverty.
Despite these challenges, Stephen maintains an indomitably sunny outlook on life. He began working as a vendor and has become a recognized part of the community at Davie and Thurlow. Stephen is also an active member of the Megaphone community, having served two terms on the Vendor Advisory Board.
We’re thrilled to honour Stephen as the 2014 Vendor of the Year to recognize his unwavering positivity, and his outstanding contributions to both the Megaphone community, and the greater community in Vancouver.
