MAY 26, 2023–SIGN UP for “Voices of the Street Launch – Losing Hope, Finding Home”

2023 Voices of the Street Launch – Losing Hope, Finding Home

Join Megaphone Magazine May 26, 2023, from 6:30-8:30 PM, to celebrate the launch of Megaphone’s 2023 and 13th annual Voices of the Street special literary edition Losing Hope, Finding Home. This anthology features work from 23 writers marginalized by homelessness and poverty, including Megaphone vendors and participants of Megaphone’s creative writing community workshops.

The night will feature heartfelt stories, readings from a handful of Voices of the Street writers, insight from community photographers whose photos complement the writing and a special poetry reading from Vancouver’s Poet Laureate, Fiona Tinwei Lam. This event is a beautiful combination of the tenderness, humour and perseverance that makes the Megaphone community special.

Tickets are $10. Though the ticket prices help us cover costs for this project, it is important to us that income is not a barrier. If you’d like to attend and the cost is a barrier, please email communications@megaphonemagazine.com

This event sells out every year. Get your ticket early to avoid disappointment!

Event Schedule:

6:00-6:30: Doors Open. Coffee, tea and light refreshments.

6:30-8:30: Readings, stories and music, including a special reading from Vancouver Poet Laureate Fiona Tinwei Lam.

8:30-9:00: Reception to follow with refreshments. This event also marks the end of the 2nd annual DTES Writers Festival.
